Fiji in top five destinations

AMERICAN magazine, Modern Bride, rated Fiji one of the top five honeymoon destinations.

The Bula News, the Fiji Islands Visitors Bureau Industry Newsletter released yesterday, said the magazine has a circulation of 342,588 in the United States. The feature piece on Fiji was written by travel writer Jad Davenport.

FVB chief executive Viliame Gavoka said that was good news for the industry and that the ratings strengthened the Fiji industry, especially honeymoon destinations.

He said the profile of the country would be strong in the honeymoon market. Fiji Islands Hotel and Tourism Association president Dixon Seeto said being rated by such a prestigious magazine was an achievement itself, especially being rated internationally.

Mr Seeto said the publicity was worth millions of dollars and "puts the country in the minds of people in the honeymoon and marriage market". Mr Seeto said this reflected the promotion FVB and hotels had been doing in this particular market. He said the top resorts were geared for the market.
